How the estimate is built
Every tariff layer, shown separately.
The calculator turns the product, origin, value, transport mode, and entry date into an itemized estimate you can inspect. It currently monitors 22 regulatory data sources.
- 01
Base tariff
The 10-digit HTS code determines the general rate and any available special-program rates.
- 02
Additional duties
Chapter 99 measures—including applicable Section 232 and Section 301 duties—are layered in ACE reporting order.
- 03
Customs fees
Merchandise Processing Fee and Harbor Maintenance Fee are calculated from the entry value and transport mode.
- 04
Regulatory flags
The result surfaces potential PGA requirements and possible AD/CVD cases that need product-specific review.
Questions about the estimate
What to know before you use the result.
Is the US tariff calculator free?
Yes. Your first five distinct calculations need no account. After that, create a free account to keep using the calculator—no payment information is required.
What does the estimate include?
The calculation can include the base HTS rate, applicable Chapter 99 duties, customs fees, trade-program treatment, exclusions, and regulatory flags. The result shows each layer separately so you can see how the total was built.
Do I need the full 10-digit HTS code?
Yes, for a complete calculation. A shorter heading can help you find the right part of the tariff schedule, but the final digits can change the rate, unit requirements, and government-agency rules.
Does the result include AD/CVD duties?
The calculator flags potentially relevant antidumping and countervailing duty cases, but it does not add an AD/CVD cash-deposit rate to the entry-duty estimate. AD/CVD liability depends on written scope, producer or exporter identity, and review-specific rates, so it needs a separate scope lookup.
Why could the final amount differ from the estimate?
Customs treatment depends on the final classification, country of origin, entered value, product composition, trade-program eligibility, exclusions, and the rules in effect on the entry date. CBP or another agency may reach a different determination.
How current is the tariff data?
Tandom monitors the tariff schedule and regulatory sources used by the calculator. The page shows when those sources were last checked, and the result links back to the underlying tariff layers and citations where available.
Beyond the estimate
If tariffs change the economics, compare the sourcing options—not just the duty total.
Tandom helps industrial buyers develop alternative manufacturers, normalize quotes and landed-cost assumptions, and carry qualified candidates through sampling and first-order readiness.
